Orchestra members are preparing for the annual winter concert on Dec. 11 at 6:30 p.m. in the Dale E. Graham Auditorium, according to assistant orchestra director Elisabeth Ohly-Davis. Concert Orchestra, Philharmonic Orchestra and Sinfonia Orchestra will perform first, followed by an intermission. Symphony Orchestra’s performance will then begin at 8 p.m, which will be a preview of the songs the Symphony Orchestra members are scheduled to play at the Midwest Clinic on Dec. 20. Tickets to the winter concert are generally $5, but cost $3 for senior citizens and children.
William Chen, Symphony Orchestra member and senior, said he looks forward to the winter concert and hopes audience members will be able to sit through the hour-long Midwest Clinic preview.
Chen said, “Some of the music is light, but towards the end, the music gets much denser and more mature. I just hope people will be able to sit through that and enjoy it because that’s the best music, in my opinion. It might not be the most fun or accessible, but it’s the most emotional and engaging.”
