The CHS Theater is to perform its fall production, “The 39 Steps,” from Nov. 12 to 14. The original 1935 film is about a man who tries to help a counterespionage agent but stands accused when the agent is killed. He must then go on the run to save himself as well as stop a spy ring that attempts to steal top-secret information. CHS’s rendition of the play adaptation breaks the 150 characters in the original film into parts for the 19 actors.
Freshman Allie Crawford plays one of the company members. “There is quite a variety (to my characters),” Crawford said. “In some scenes, I’m inanimate objects, such as a chair, or a bar, so it just kind of depends on the scene what type of character I’ll be playing.”
Jim Peterson, director of theater and film, said, “(The show) is going to be hopefully a laugh riot. I think there’s a lot of really funny stuff. These (actors) are very quick-witted and creative and I think that the audience will get a good laugh out of it.”
