During SRT on Feb. 19 any student with a pass is able to attend Military Academy Day. Able members from Military Academy Club will attend the event, and students will learn about the different branches of the military.
Club sponsor Serina Mergulhao said “They’ll go and meet all of the different academy representatives. There will be academies like West Point, and Coast Guard Academy there. So, while the members are attending that, our club hopes to have our flyers there.”
Donny Woodcock, club member and freshman, plans to attend Military Academy Day. “I want to learn more from the different academies. I’m interested to see what they’re like,” Woodcock said.
Military Academy Club also has two events coming up in March. A Navy SEAL will inform club members about the Navy and the club will also have a Police Week.
“I don’t know a lot about the Navy, but I’m looking forward to seeing what the say and do. Since, I don’t know that much about it, so it will be interesting to see if I’m interested in the Navy or not,” Woodcock said.
“When we have Police Week, we’re going to invite (two officers) to come and talk to us about life after the Marines, and what kinds of jobs there are. They will also talk about if you’re not going to be in the military having a Plan B, which is working with the police department or in the government,” Mergulhao said.
Police Week will be the second or third week of March, depending on the club members schedules.
