According to Grace Miller, Living Hope Club president and senior, club members are planning to volunteer at a variety of events hosted by Center for Global Impact (CGI). One of the possible events is a fashion show which will take place on April 24, if they are given permission from CGI.
“(Club members are) looking at potential dates to help sort inventory at the CGI warehouse in Indianapolis,” Miller said, “Depending on when the majority of people are available, we will make it happen.”
Miller said there are other volunteer events that members can partake in this month by themselves as she will not be able to help as she has a tight schedule with show choir.
CGI is an organization that provides people in poverty and bondage education, business and vocational training. It works primarily in Cambodia and many of the people it helps are victims of sex trafficking.
Club sponsor Diana LaRose said the club was started in order to spread awareness and stop female infanticide in India, and this project with CGI fits right in with that goal. “It is going right along with everything that the club is all about. It’s injustices to girls in particular,” she said.
