On Sept. 3, the German Club is scheduled to have its second executive board meeting of the year.
According to German Club sponsor Laura King the officers will plan a video scavenger hunt. This event traditionally kicks off German Club.
During this event, club members compete, filming themselves doing as many tasks as possible, such as singing the German happy birthday song and doing silly dances. After the scavenger hunt, members reconvene to watch the videos and eat pizza.
Theresa Lipp, German Club president and junior, said, “Its pretty much to get to know people. It’s so much fun, especially watching the videos.”
The German Club also looks forward to the arrival of 16 German exchange students scheduled to come Oct. 9. According to King, during the meeting the officers will begin planning activities to do when they are here. She mentioned a hayride, Pacer’s game and pitch-in dinner as possibilities.
According to Lipp, the German Club may also take a day trip to Chicago this year for the Christkindlmarket, a market selling traditional German Christmas goods. The Christkinldmarket in Chicago is only second in size to the original in Germany.
German students interested in participating in the German Club can look forward to the call-out meeting scheduled for Sept. 10 during the second session of SRT.
King said, “We hope to have just as big a group (about 50 members last year), maybe even a larger group. That’s our goal.”
