Kid’s Corner celebrated Halloween by hosting a Halloween party at the auditorium for the preschoolers. Everyone in the class made efforts to be festive for Halloween by dressing up in costumes.
According to Kid’s Corner teacher Kimberly Lenzo, “the most interesting costume that I saw from the student teachers would be either the gnome or the penguin, as for the preschoolers, I think that the one of the best costumes was the pink donut costume.”
For class on Halloween, the students of Advanced Child Development accompanied the preschoolers to the auditorium and everyone attended the Frankenstein themed Halloween party. There were many activities for the preschoolers to do during the party such as a bowling game, making a Frankenstein bag, singing Halloween songs, creating drawings out of fingerprints, and reading Halloween-themed books. The intermission of the Halloween party was followed by snack time for the preschoolers. The snacks were Frankenstein-themed as well, the snacks consisted of Frankenstein Rice Krispies Treats, green-tinted popcorn, and a Frankenstein juice box. Once the Halloween party was over, the student teachers and preschoolers left the auditorium in order to go trick or treating around the school. They stopped at different classrooms and received candy. Once trick or treating was over, everyone gathered around for some group photos. After the photos was taken, it was time for the preschoolers to go home. Before the students went out to the carpool area, they were all handed a “pumpkin bag,” which consisted of a tiny copy of “10 Pumpkins Sitting On a Fence,” along with ten pumpkin erasers.
According to Alissa Bandejas, a Kid’s Corner student teacher, “everyone’s Halloween costumes were so cute, the party was such as success too.” Overall, everyone seemed content with the Halloween party and the trick or treating that followed after. The day ended with preschoolers walking to the carpool area with a bag of candy and a smile on their faces. By Harini Ravichandran
