According to Michelle Foutz, Senate sponsor and social studies teacher, Senate has moved back Senate elections for a week due to DECA absences.
“The petitions are due on Friday (May 3), and the call-out meeting is Friday in Room E231. Their signs are due Monday (May 6) morning at 8 a.m. They can pick those up on Tuesday (May 7) at 3:15 p.m. and that’s when campaigning can begin. The election starts Wednesday (May 8) morning at 7:45 a.m. and ends at 2:45 p.m. on Friday (May 10),” Foutz said.
According to student body president Tim Metken, the last event for Senate is Senate elections, and the remainder of the year is overall lax.
“We’re doing election prep right now, but it’s really pretty chill. (Senate SRT) is kind of like a normal SRT now,” Metken said.
Furthermore, Foutz said she agreed that the rest of the year will proceed smoothly.
“We’re just trying to wrap up and get committee reports done for all of the different events that we’ve done,” Foutz said. “We have one or two final ‘Appreciations’ that we’re doing. (There’s) nothing major this time of the year. We also work at graduation, but that’s pretty much it.” By Heidi Peng.
