The Holiday Spectacular performances will take place during the evenings of Dec. 4, 5, 6, and 7. All ten of the school’s choirs will be performing at the choir’s biggest performance of the year. The entire choir department is all hands on deck to make sure the production runs smoothly.
According to the choir director Katherine Kouns, “We’re in crunch mode right now. Everybody is working really hard trying to get everything kind of touched up. And then at the same time, a lot of the groups are simultaneously learning competition music at the same time.”
Ambassador and Rockette Maaike Mora is hard at work preparing for Spec along with her peers. She said, “It’s definitely been a challenge remembering all the music and choreography, especially keeping up with my schoolwork alongside all of that. At the end of the day, it’s been so much fun working on this performance with my friends and being on stage.”
Kouns said, “[Holiday Spectacular] is a gift for the community, a gift for the audience. It is basically our way of serving up the holiday spirit and getting everyone in the mood for the holidays. Part of the fun of giving a gift is watching the person unwrap it and seeing how excited they are to receive it. Right now, we’ve been in the process of shopping, wrapping and preparing the gift metaphorically.” She said, “I’m excited that our students get to work on this and share it with the audience.”
