Planetarium Club to host public show next Thursday

The Planetarium Club will host the first public planetarium show of the school year on Thursday, Sept. 8. It will begin at 7:30 p.m. and the CHS Bookstore will sell tickets during school hours.

According to Keith Turner, club sponsor and science teacher, astronomy students and members of the club are the ones who lead the show. For the first couple shows, Turner usually has to take more responsibility, but as the year goes on, he delegates it to the students.

“It’s a really cool real life application of this type of science.”

“It’s always the busiest students who are involved in this, but at the same time they’re in all these other extracurriculars,” Turner said.

For this reason, he said club members rarely are there for their full time at Carmel, but rather when they can fit it in.

Emma Cohen, club member and senior, said that she got involved after enrolling in astronomy.
