PTO working to organize events

The Parent Teacher Organization, or PTO, is an organization of parents that works to plan events at Carmel High School. According to PTO President Kim Gunderman, PTO meetings are held every first Tuesday of the month at 9 a.m. in the Community Room. “Our next meeting is Tuesday, October 5th at 9 a.m. in the Community Room,” Gunderman said via email.

The PTO organizes many events throughout the year for students and parents, such as the Back to School Open House that was held on Aug. 26, Homecoming, which was on Sept. 25 and the Scholastic Banquet in April and Gradfest, which occurs after graduation.

Parent volunteers apply to be in the PTO at the beginning of the school year, and they help with school registration as well as the many events listed above.  The PTO is at work throughout the entire school year.

PTO worked to make the Homecoming Dance possible this year.  “I think that the PTO did a very good job organizing the (Homecoming) Dance, and I really enjoyed being able to participate in that,” Freshman Class senator George Gemelas said.

The PTO is responsible for many of the main events that go on outside of school throughout the entire year. “They are working hard to make the school a more fun place,” stated Gemelas, “I look forward to participating in more events that the PTO organized.” By Andrew Wang <[email protected]>
