Senior Emily Hansen is one of the students here whose school artwork will be featured in North magazine’s December issue.

“It was a nice surprise,” Hansen said. “I didn’t even know about it until Mrs. Davis had already submitted it. I’m flattered she liked my painting so much.”

Trisha Reynolds, an employee at ESC (Educational Service Center), asked Jen Davis, the chairperson of the art department, for twenty pieces of art by students.

“We weren’t given a whole lot of notice,” Davis said. “I went to a couple of teachers and told them about the opportunity and asked if they had some strong pieces to offer.”

According to Davis, North magazine chose ten of the 20 pieces Davis gave to Reynolds,  and Davis said it might fit the other ten in a different issue.

As for Hansen’s future in art, she said she isn’t so sure. “I might minor in art; I like it a lot. But I want to major in interior design.” By Katie Walstrom <[email protected]>
