Kids Against Hunger Club to attend packaging event Dec. 18, Jan. 15

Kids Against Hunger Club is scheduled to assist in a food packaging event on Dec. 18 at the Noblesville American Red Cross building. This event is the only scheduled event for winter break, with a Jan. 15 event following break.

Chris Law, club president and senior, says the holiday season is a great way to give back on a global level.

“With Christmas coming around, it’s especially important to help those in need,” Law said. “What we do isn’t hard but it has such a broad effect. The more people who attend the events, the more of a difference we can make.”

Students are welcome to attend a packaging event with the club as long as Code of Conduct forms have been signed, according to club sponsor Maggie Cassidy.

“We don’t have any dues to be in the club,” Cassidy said. “If students need more information, they’re welcome to see me or the club’s Facebook page.”

A typical packaging event consists of signing in, getting ready to work the packaging tables, and then getting out on the line to help wherever people are needed. An event is split into two sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, according to Law.

“There’s normally one event per month and we try to stay for both sessions of the event if we can,” Law said. “Hopefully next semester we have enough members that maybe we can even have our own packaging event at Carmel High School.” By Kelly Clark
