Gay-Straight Alliance is scheduled to meet Jan. 13 after-school in Room B215, according to club sponsor Jeremy Horner.
“Also, this is the semester for Day of Silence, which I think is in April,” Horner said. “It’s basically an event to raise awareness (for the bullying of people with different sexual orientations). It’s also possible that we may do something for ‘no-name calling week,’ which is a national campaign against school bullying.”
Other than these two major events, Horner said there are no major plans for the club at this time, until people from the club sit down and talk about making arrangements.
Gay-Straight Alliance is mainly a forum group where members can discuss about recent news and social issues, according to club president Gracie “Grace” Woerner.
“Gay-Straight Alliance promotes and markets a safe environment for people who have different sexual orientations. People should join because it’s for a really good cause,” Woerner said. By Tony Tan
