Gay-Straight Alliance scheduled to meet Thursday

According to club sponsor Jeremy Horner, Gay-Straight Alliance is scheduled to have its next meeting after school on Jan. 27, following its regular schedule of meeting every other Thursday.

Horner said this next meeting will be somewhat of a second call-out meeting, which will not only focus returning members on the club’s objectives this semester but also attract new members.

Although the club has yet to fully organize this semester, Horner said that the club will pick up as time allows it, and there would be a guest speaker scheduled to visit near the end of February.

“I’m not sure what the discussion topic will be for this next meeting, but I know we are trying to get a guest speaker to come sometime at the end of February. The guest speaker will be a person from either PFLAG (Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays), which is a community organization for family and friends that basically acts as a support group, or a Butler professor,” Horner said.

Gay-Straight Alliance is in essence a forum group in which members can discuss recent news and social norms.

“The Gay-Straight Alliance promotes and markets a safe environment for people who have different sexual orientations. People should join, because it’s for a really good cause,” club president Gracie “Grace” Woerner said. By Tony Tan <[email protected]>
