As Vioneet says, millions of people see the same places, but the fact that each sees the same place differently is what inspired her to do this:

So what are these? These are places that millions and millions of people see each year. They are easily recognizable, but each individual picture is different. You see, these pictures are not just individual pictures, but 200-300 pictures carefully layered together so that the main attraction is still visible, but each person, building, etc. that is different in each photo still faintly comes through.

According to The Empty Quarter Gallery in Dubai, who is currently displaying Vioneet’s work, “The picture swings between the drawing and the etching. The monumental silhouettes develop into sketches, and then become fragile and dimmer. Presences of watermarks haunt the décor, which disappears in the mist. Finally, the concentration of all those photographs on one subject cannot speak of the object itself but of the time. The passing time, like those curious shadows, which belong to the domain of vagueness, and the eternity congealed into matter transformed into symbol.

“Corinne Vionnet’s work is therefore a compilation of snapshots in both senses. That is to say that the result is located in the antipodes of the conventional coolness of the photo souvenirs.”
