NHS members will have their next meeting on Jan. 10 in the freshman cafeteria after school. Also, the club members have begun to plan for their annual carnation sale. The carnation sale will take place on Feb. 2, 3, 6, 7 and 8 in the main cafeteria, and NHS members will deliver the flowers on Valentine’s Day during SRT.
NHS members use the profit produced from the carnation sale to pay dues and donate money to charities.
“We want people to buy carnations for their friends and loved ones,” NHS head sponsor Michelle Satchwell said.
NHS members also participate in Project Linus, an ongoing event where members make blankets to give to children that visit Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital. According to Satchwell, members ahve made and donated a total of 107 blankets so far.
NHS president Nicholas Muller said, “We have been doing really well with that effort (for Project Linus).”
