In addition to the weekly Campaigners meetings, Young Life has also begun weekly Capernaum meetings. These meetings take place every Thursday in the community room next to main cafeteria from 3:20 to 4:15 p.m. According to Rachel Klippel, Best Buddies team head, Young Life Capernaum is a great way for disabled students to get involved in Young Life club, as well as for Best Buddies members to become more involved with the club.
“It allows everyone to worship God and see his grace. It can be anyone so it’s a good way to make sure everyone is included,” Klippel said.
Young Life Capernaum leader, John Balmat, worked with Best Buddies to insure that the first meeting ran smoothly. This included group flyers and instructions. According to Balmat, each club meeting follows a specific procedure, but the overall goal is to have fun.
“As soon as everyone gets there we will go over a ‘Club Rundown,’ which I have printed off (for members),” Balmat said. “That way (members) can be on the same page for what is going on in Club. I will ask a few people to lead each of the activities, but on top of that (members) can just keep doing what they’re doing, which is hanging out with these awesome kids.”
Young Life Campaigners meetings will take place as scheduled every Monday night at 7:30 pm at 13102 Brooks Landing Place, 46033. For a list of specific dates visit the Carmel Young Life website.
