According to Kids’ Corner teacher Kimberly Lenzo, the seniors in the Kids’ Corner class are in their second week of their new rotation. The seniors currently in the preschool room spent the last few weeks at Edu-Care. Lenzo said this group of seniors has a better feel for how the classroom should run.
She said, “(At Edu-Care) the seniors weren’t in charge and could watch the lead teachers, and now they have something to model after here.”
Halie Griffin, Kids’ Corner member and senior, said she liked working at Edu-Care but likes teaching the Kids’ Corner class better.
Griffin said, “I learned a lot about patience with the younger kids at Edu-Care, but it’s nice having more control of the kids here in the classroom.”
As for the preschoolers, Lenzo said they had little trouble switching to the new group of teachers.
“I thought there would more problems when the first group had to leave, but the kids had no problems adjusting,” Lenzo said. “We have one senior who stayed here for both rotations, so I think it was good for (the preschool kids) to have at least one familiar face.”
According to Griffin, the theme for this week is “Fall and Halloween.” They will have Halloween themed stories, snacks and activities, including trick or treating throughout the school on Oct. 31.
