Best Buddies plans to take part in the Best Buddies Friendship Walk. The event is scheduled to take place on April 28 at White River State Park Canal in Indianapolis. According to Rachael Klippel, club president and senior, anyone can sign up for free online, sponsor walkers, donate or volunteer.
Klippel said chapters from all over Indiana will be there to help raise money for Best Buddies Indiana. The proceeds from the fundraiser will go directly to the headquarters in Indiana, but individual chapters get the money back with the support they receive.
After the walk, participants can go to the Military Park for food and activities.
Club sponsor Dana Lawrence said, “This activity is different because it is a statewide event and there are a lot more people.”
Jack Flowers, club treasurer and sophomore, said out-of-school activities allow Best Buddies to interact in a different environment than in-school activities.
