The women’s cross-country team emerged victorious at the Hamilton County meet in Noblesville as the team brought home the winning title. According to Head Coach Mark Ellington, Carmel won with 29 points, with runner-up Hamilton Southeastern at 49 points; Fishers, 98; Westfield, 115; Guerin Catholic, 169; and Hamilton Heights, 224.
Ellington said via e-mail that the meet was very solid. He also said that for the rest of the season his expectations are very high, and he likes to win every regular season meet out there. Ellington’s biggest goal is to win State again.
“It’s a work in progress and only time will tell,” Ellington said.
Ellen Schmitz, varsity runner and senior, finished in fifth place in the varsity race. Schmitz’s main goal is to set a personal record and cap off her senior year with another State title. Like Ellington, Schmitz believes that Carmel has a high chance of repeating its win at State.
“We are hoping to put up a good fight this year,” Schmitz said.
