The women’s varsity soccer team competes against Zionsville on Oct. 8 in the first round of the Sectional tournament. The game will begin at 6 p.m. at Murray Stadium. Last weekend the team tied with Zionsville 0-0.The girls are preparing for the upcoming match, including team captain and senior Amy Malone. “In all as a team we just accepted the challenge and realized if we want to win Sectionals we need to know we are the best team,” Malone said.
The team will play Center Grove on Oct. 2, finishing off its season games. The team is heading into this match with 12 wins and one loss this season. Last week, the varsity team defeated Noblesville 1-0 and Cathedral 1-0. As the team wraps up its season and gets ready for the Sectional tournament, Head Coach Frank Dixon prepares his team to win a State title. Dixon has specific methods he has learned over past years to prepare the team. Dixon said, “We will continue to work on composure in front of the net and playing defense as a team with aggression.”
