On Saturday, the men’s golf team plans to compete in the Sollman Invitational at The Trophy Club.
According to Head Coach Richard Reid, the team will spend a lot of the upcoming practice time working on short putts and their game around the greens.
“I think we underperformed at Fox Prairie because of a lot of small mistakes. The important thing is that we learn from those mistakes and make adjustments going forward,” Reid said.
Varsity team member and senior Jon Hicks said that before and after every practice the team has to hit 10 six-footers in a row.
“It is difficult to do. Pro players are 45 percent from seven feet. We’re emphasizing short game a lot because that’s where a lot of the shots come,” Hicks said.
Although the Reid said the team is trying to focus on daily improvement, Hicks and Reid agreed that the team’s main goal is to capture the 2014 State Championship.
