The 2013-2014 staff of the Hilite won the Gold Circle Award from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association (CSPA.) Awards were announced on September 18, 2014 on the CSPA website.
The CSPA judged a total of 7,128 entries. Among the individual winners were Matthew Del Busto for Sports Commentary, Alex Yu for Informational Graphics, Dennis Yang for Informational Graphics Portfolio, Rushi Patel for Feature Design Portfolio, Jessica Tao for Personal Opinion, Michelle Dai for General Feature, Hafsa Razi for Non-fiction Column, Kyle Crawford for Single Sports Photograph, Rachel Chen for Editorial Cartoon, Omeed Malek for Photo Illustration, Kyle Crawford for Video Feature Package and Kyle Crawford and Naomi Reibold for Video Feature Package.
Honorable Mentions included Nivedha Meyyappan for Single Spot News Photograph, Kyle Crawford for Single Feature Photograph, Matthew Del Busto for Sports Page Design Portfolio and Kyle Crawford for Photo Slideshow.
