“We had a great turnout, so we are looking foward to greater attendance this year,” Hereens said.
Members of the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) will volunteer at a bike safety course at the IU North Pumpkin Patch Festival on Oct. 11, according to Vivian Heerens, club president and senior.
Heerens said members of the club will teach young children about proper bike safety at this event.
“This is a community service event that we do every year,” Heerens said. “We really like working with the kids.”
On Sept. 30, members of the club traveled to Purdue University to attend the Indiana FCCLA Fall Rally, according to Maryann O’Connor, club member and junior.
Heerens said club members heard from keynote speaker Dr. Connie Weaver about why health matters. They also attended workshops and took a campus tour.
“It was a fun event. I think we all learned something,” Heerens said.
