Speech team will meet on Oct. 9 in Room E149 to practice and revise scripts that club members will perform at the competitions. The first competition will occur near the end of this month, according to club sponsor Jacleen Joiner.
“Our biggest goal right now is to get the students prepared and feel confident for what is coming ahead,” Joiner said.
Many new members have joined the club, including freshman Hannah Paul.
“The best part so far is getting to know people that are also in the club,” Paul said.
Paul was in speech team in eighth grade and decided to continue because she enjoyed participating in these competitions. She said speech team helped build her confidence and allowed her to express herself.
Paul will compete in in improvisational duo, declamation, and discussion. Paul believes these areas will be her strengths.
Many students are excited for the upcoming meet at the end of this month.
Paul said, “Meets are like tests. They show the progress you have made and allow you to see what you can do better in the future.”
