According to Nancy Heck, Carmel director of community relations and economic development, many festivals will take place during the weekends at the end of August and beginning of September.
“We’ll have Artomobilia, which is an event showcasing all types of cars and arts, on Aug. 27. I encourage people to come out and see all the cool local projects there,” she said.
Artomobilia will run from noon to 5 p.m. on Carmel’s Main Street. Car collectors and enthusiasts will park their cars for the public to view. There will also be a judging contest; cars with well-designed interiors, exteriors and engine bays are eligible to win prize money.
Ryan Woock, Carmel Mayor’s Youth Council (CMYC) president and senior, said the CMYC is trying to get the community involved in events such as Zumba dancing and the Bow Wow Bash, a dog festival.
The Bow Wow Bash will take place on Aug. 27 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at West Park on 2700 W. 116th Street. It will include a mile-long run or walk, local vendors selling dog accessories and food trucks. All proceeds will go to the Hamilton County Humane Society. Dog owners planning to attend must sign wavers saying they will leash their pets at all times and pick up after them. Wavers are available online at the CMYC website.
Woock said, “We’ve got a good group (of student CMYC volunteers) this year, and I think the events we put out to the community will show that. We just want the people in Carmel to network and have fun. Personally, I’m excited to play with all the dogs and meet the owners at the Bow Wow Bash.” By Melissa Yap
