Carmel Clay Parks and Recreation (CCPR) is scheduled to have Pumpkinfest on Oct. 24 from noon to 4 p.m. at West Park. According to marketing manager Lindsay Labas, Pumpkinfest along with other events are in need of spirited participants along with volunteers.
Pumpkinfest is an event where participants get to dress up in costumes and do a variety of pumpkin related activities. There are activities ranging from pumpkin carving and painting to a hayride through West Park. Not to mention, each participant can enter a pumpkin and possibly win a prize. Pumpkins are to be sold for $3 to $4 depending on the size. Pumpkinfest is also looking for possible volunteers.
“Pumpkinfest actually has a lot of volunteers that we need,” Labas said. According to Labas, volunteers would run games, sell pumpkins, show participants where to go and answer any questions.
Holiday themed events are not the only ones that the CCPR plans; Labas said that the CCPR has an extensive range of activities.
“We have a wide array of special events ranging from holiday themed activities to events catered to dogs six months and up,” Labas said.
Along with the array of the CCPR events, volunteering can give students the opportunity to get involved, and also understand how the events are organized and put together.
“Volunteering is a great way to get involved with your community and give back, as well as give you first hand experience of how special events are run within a parks department,” Labas said. By Audrey Bailey <[email protected]>
