On Nov. 3 the German Club plans on having a movie night in the community room, after school until 5:30 p.m. According to German Club sponsor Laura King, at the event members will have the opportunity to watch “Nosferatu,” a silent German film and the first ever produced about the infamous Dracula. They will also have the chance to sample sugary German popcorn and Apfelsohorle, a mixture of apple juice and soda water.
Artem Gervets, German club member and junior, plans on attending this event because he said, “(The movie) is a classic, and without the classics we wouldn’t have a lot of what we take for granted today.”
This event is not just open to members like Gervets. According to King, non-members can participate in the event as well for a fee of $2. She said that 30 people total have signed up so far.
The German Club also plans on going to Chicago on Dec. 12 for the Christkindlmarket, a market selling traditional German goods. According to King the Christkindlemarket in Chicago is the biggest one in the world besides the one in Germany. A limit of 45 members can attend this event.
Gervets said he plans to attend. He said, “It’s always fun to go out of town and it’s a great way to experience German culture first hand rather than just reading it in a textbook.” By Meredith Boyd <[email protected]>
