According to school nurse Carol Gelatt, the Indiana State Board of Health requires new immunizations for the 2010-11 school year. Some of these vaccines include both the Tdap and MCV4 vaccines.
“I think it would be a good idea if we sent a reminder to students that the State Board of Health is going to have some new requirements as far as immunization for the school year starting in August. The reason it is good to know about that now is because physicians will be overwhelmed in the summer if everybody goes to their doctor at that time.” Gelatt said.
She recommends that every student notify their physicians as soon as possible to get their vaccines now, rather than later. By Matt Barnthouse <[email protected]>
