WHJE has multiple carnivals coming up, including one at Towne Meadow Elementary, College Wood Elementary and West Clay Elementary. Each carnival is on a different day this month, generally on a Friday, including March 14, which was the Towne Meadow Elementary carnival, which was from 6 to 9 p.m.

“We have to play child-friendly music, especially since most of these are directed at elementary-school-aged children,” Samuel Pickett, the WHJE program department director and senior, said, “It’s mostly music from the past couple of years, like Hannah Montana; we don’t really play any music that was inappropriate references.”
To help younger radio reporters get used to the job, generally Pickett or two other experienced people go, accompanied by two students learning how to report and play music in front of a crowd. Brian Spilbeler, the WHJE radio teacher, leaves most of the planning to his experienced students, letting them get the experience that they will need if they chose to peruse a job in radio in their futures.
