DECA members are already in committees and preparing for the Holiday Secret Shop that they will hold Dec. 1 to 6.
“(My favorite part is) getting to see everything we have,” officer and senior Laura Wagner said.
The shop will be open from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. Monday to Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This several-day shop requires a lot of preparation. The members of DECA have signed up for committees including merchandise, buying, decorating and promotion. There will be a variety of holiday themed items to choose from. Some elementary school and preschool students will also be able to buy items from the shop.
The money earned in the shop is used for DECA.
“Usually I spend maybe $5,000 on products and decorations and other things and last year we had sales of $11,000, so last year we did really well. We had a nice profit for DECA,” club sponsor Laura Cardamon said.
However, Wagner said the money is not the only profit she gets from doing the work.
“After my experience last year getting to show the kids around, knowing what they’re going to like and what they’re going to be really excited about makes me really excited and makes spending all of these hours completely worth it,” Wagner said.
