The following is from an e-mail by men’s cross-country Head Coach Erhard “Doc” Bell regarding the Sept. Culver Invitational:
“The Carmel Greyhounds competed in today’s Culver Invitational. Columbus North was dominant as the #1 ranked team in Indiana and won easily with 104 points. The #2 ranked Greyhounds placed second with 220. Rounding out team scores for the Varsity Boys Open Race were Terre Haute North (232), Westfield (236), S. B. St.Joseph (263), North Central (264), Mason (294), Louisville (296), Zionsville (299), La Porte (300), Valparaiso (313), Ft. Wayne Carroll (331), LawrenceCentral (396), Sylvania Northview (433), Martinsville (450), West Lafayette (456), Fishers (467), Northridge (472), Warren Central (480), Chesterton (518), Portage (532), New Prairie (546), Downers South (569), Crown Point (580), Warsaw(623), Bloomington North (645), Munster (710), Logansport (744), Lake Central (757), Kokomo (757), McCutcheon (802), S. B. Clay (906) and Michigan City (1032). North Central’s Futsum Zeinasellassie was the individual winner in 14:49.9followed by Terre Haute North’s John Mascari in 14:59.1 and Carmel’s Chris Walden 3rd in 15:02.9. Other Carmel runners included Pat Appleton (34th in 16:07.6), Charlie Watson (45th in 16:12.6), Eric Kinn (65th in 16:25.2), Robert Raleigh(77th in 16:30.7) and Nick Schrock (100th in 16:42.1).”
