Football team to play Warren Central Oct. 1 at Lucas Oil Stadium

On Friday, October 1, the football team will travel downtown to Lucas Oil Stadium to face off against Warren Central as part of the Circle City Classic.

Carmel is undefeated on the season, and Warren Central has only one loss, which came to Cleveland (Ohio) Glenville. Both teams also enter the game with perfect records in the MIC.

The game a rematch of last year’s state championship game, which also took place at Lucas Oil Stadium, in which the Greyhounds fell to the Warriors 42-36 in double overtime.

Carmel Head Coach Kevin Wright sees this as a good measuring to stick to figure out where his team is with only two games left until the postseason begins, but he does not believe it should be treated differently than any other regular season game.

“The fact that they beat us in a close game for the state championship allows the media to blow this game up far more than either team will because they are not going to give out any blue rings to the team that wins this game,” Wright said.

James Herman, starting safety and junior, agrees with Wright that this game is no more important than any other game.

“We want to win this game just as much as any other one,” Herman said. “But we aren’t going to treat this game any differently than all the others.” By Charlie Browning <[email protected]>
