On Oct. 13 all grades will be required to take preparatory exams. The Freshman Class will take the PLAN test on this day. This test is administered through the ACT program and is known as the “pre-ACT” test to prepare students for the ACT. Both the Sophomore and Junior Classes will take the PSAT. Director of counseling Linda Skafish said the PSAT is only required for the Sophomore Class because the test is paid for by the state of Indiana. She said only juniors who signed up for the PSAT will be taking it.
The Senior Class will take the ASVAB test, which is a career aptitiude test administered through the U.S. Department of Defense. Skafish said the test focuses on identifying a student’s specific strengths and weaknesses.
“(The ASVAB) gives good information about career planning,” Skafish said. “Also it is a helpful with deciding what strengths are associated with each major.”
Senior Samantha Osleger said she is looking forward to taking the ASVAB test. “I have always wanted to go into education but it might be interesting to see what other fields I could be good at,” Osleger said. By Ellie Seta <[email protected]>
