Share the Music Club to play at Clarian North Hospital and Summer Trace Nursing Home

Share the Music Club, an organization dedicated to playing music and using talents to help the community, has no set meeting date but is scheduled to play at Clarian North Hospital and Summer Trace Nursing Home later this month.

According to Soo Han, sponsor and director of Carmel High School’s orchestra, a member doesn’t have to be in band or orchestra, but is encouraged to have prior musical experience. “The purpose of this club is just to bring a little joy to their lives through music. No pun intended, but it’s to share the music,” Han said.

Sunhee Han, co-president and sophomore, works with Shaina Pan, the club’s other co-president, to create events and meetings throughout the year. “Students who enjoy music and community service should join this club to use their talent and help the community. Music therapy really helps make seniors happy, and is even proven to help the healing process for patients in the hospital,” Sunhee said via e-mail.

Some club members are playing for the Midwest Academy Gala, a school associated with CHS. Other events throughout the year will also take place at graduation banquets.

The club itself, however, is not a club to teach music. It is just a chance to get together a few times every month to practice and perform. According to Soo Han, students pick the music and about 99 percent of the club is student oriented. By Taylor Acton <[email protected]>
