CHS hosts middle school orchestra concert Oct. 19

On Oct. 19, approximately 120 eighth-grade orchestra students from the three middle schools will rehearse together in the auditorium starting at 1 p.m. and perform later in the evening at 7 p.m., according to orchestra director Soo Han.

Han said this festival is an opportunity for middle school students to meet each other and potentially future classmates. Camerata students will assist throughout the day.

“Middle school students look up to high school students,” Han said. “They’ll get the chance to see model orchestra students.”

Kyle Lin, president of the orchestra council, member of Camerata and senior, said he hopes to ease the transition for middle school students to a high school orchestra program.

“We want to help close the gap between middle school and high school,” Lin said. “The intensity of the program here is on another level. A lot of people quit orchestra after middle school because of that gap.” By Tracy Sun <[email protected]>
