Kids Against Hunger Club is planning to attend a food packaging event on Nov. 20 at the American Red Cross building in Noblesville. Holiday Spectacular rehearsal will interfere with the second half of the packaging event, but members in choir will still be able to make it to the rehearsal by leaving after the first half of the event.

Club sponsor Maggie Cassidy says that leaving half way through will not be an issue for choir members attending the event.

“We have about one or two members of the club in Holiday Spec so leaving early won’t be an issue,” said Cassidy. “We really hope we can have as many people as possible attend the event though.”

Going to the packaging events really gives people a sense of helping out on an international scale, according to Chris Law, club president and senior.

“What we do there isn’t hard but it has such a big effect on people,” says Law. “When we first arrive, we sign in and get ready to work. The events normally have six to eight tables to work at and each one has all the equipment needed to make the packages of food that is sent out. There are a lot of different jobs to be done while we’re there so every event is something new and exciting.”

Cassidy says that those who are interested in becoming a member of the club are allowed to join at any time.

“There are no dues for joining the club and people can join anytime,” said Cassidy. “Just come whenever you can. We hope to be making locker signs in the future and we already have shirts from the Kids Against Hunger Organization available for $15 for those who would like one.” By Kelly Clark
