As the second semester of the school year continues, Student Venture plans to follow its regular schedule with the addition of various spring events. According to Carolyn Wiley, Carmel Student Venture staff member, the group plans to host its annual Carmel Idol sometime before spring break. In addition, members are continuing their partnership with College Park Church and Shepherd Community to work with their after school tutoring program for inner city students. Student Venture provides transportation for its members to the location every Tuesday from 4 to 5:30 p.m.
“We have some dates thrown out for other events but nothing is for sure yet,” Wiley said via e-mail.
Kathryn “Kate” Shanklin, member of Student Venture and its Student Action Leadership Team (SALT), said that SALT meets Monday nights from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Clarks’ house to plan upcoming events for the group.
“I like Student Venture because it’s an awesome way to reach places your churches can’t,” Shanklin said.
