Gay-Straight Alliance scheduled to meet on March 17

Gay-Straight Alliance is scheduled to have another meeting on March 17 after school in Room B215, according to club sponsor Jeremy Horner.

“They (the club members) are currently brainstorming ideas for next year,” Horner said.

According to Horner, the club is trying to schedule a guest speaker either from PFLAG (Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays), which is a community organization for family and friends acting a support group, or The Julian Center.

“Day of Silence is still going to be our major event, which is on April 5,” Horner said. “It’s basically an event to raise awareness (for the bullying of people with different sexual orientations).”

Gay-Straight Alliance is in essence a forum group in which members can discuss recent news and social norms.

“The Gay-Straight Alliance promotes and markets a safe environment for people who have different sexual orientations. People should join, because it’s for a really good cause,” Gracie “Grace” Woerner, club president and junior, said. By Tony Tan <[email protected]>
