The next two House events are Amazing Race on May 7 and Houndstock on May 14. Also, there is a mandatory band meeting in H121 during 2nd session SRT on May 3. At least one member of each band must be present at this meeting.
Cabinet member and senior Luke Blackburn said he thinks preparation has gone well so far for the Amazing Race. “We got a lot of people to sign up earlier than expected,” Blackburn said. “We didn’t expect to get as many teams as we did last year, and the way the routes work limits the number of teams that we can have.”
House sponsor Sarah Wolff said that she hopes the maximum number of 49 teams signs up. “There are new challenges this year, and the thing I like is that the challenges aren’t all physical,” Wolff said. “There are challenges that involve teamwork and mental skills, so the event is not catered towards only one type of person.”
The list of bands for Houndstock is posted outside the Activities Office. According to Blackburn, The Dickens will be headlining the event this year.
Wolff said that a panel of judges decides which band gets to headline Houndstock. “The panel of judges has a voting rubric, and (The Dickens) scored the highest of all the bands,” Wolff said. “The highest average score of all the individual judge scores gets the headlining spot, so that’s how they got picked.”
“The list of bands is as good as it’s ever been,” Blackburn said. “We’re expecting a great turnout, and it’s going to be a great event.” By David Zheng <[email protected]>
