On Sept. 27, Carmel traveled to face North Central and won 42-7. Carmel’s next matchup is on Oct. 4 where they will play a home game against Warren Central. This game is important as Carmel prepares for a rematch of last year’s Sectional loss against Warren Central. In addition, both defensive coordinator John Hebert and Austin Roberts, wide receiver and senior, said that this winning this game is necessary to set the tone for the rest of the season.
“We want to win every game,” Hebert said. “More importantly, we are trying to define who we are by tournament time. The wins will hopefully take care of themselves.”
The Greyhounds are hoping to carry the momentum from the North Central game when they play Warren Central. Hebert said that the defense have been preparing for Warren Central and their offense this week. Hebert also said that Warren Central is a run-heavy offensive team and the Greyhounds prepared for that by watching film and studying their opponent’s tendencies. Roberts said that he prepared by watching film and working harder in practices. Roberts also said that he worked on different offensive formations so he can have more space during a play. Roberts said that he’s looking forward to face Warren Central ever since losing to them at Sectional last year.
“We’re looking forward to play this game. We want to show (Warren Central) that last year’s game means nothing now and we want to win,” Roberts said.
