WHJE starts Open Mic Club

WHJE started a new club called Open Mic Club that allows students to perform any kind of act for the rest of the club members. The first meeting was on Nov. 15. The next meeting will be a holiday-themed one on Dec. 13 in the studio theatre.

Kim Hoffa, WHJE staff member and senior, said she got the idea for Open Mic Club after hearing a podcast in radio of a student reciting a poem.

“It inspired me to start something where students could do the same in front of their peers in a friendly environment,” said Hoffa.

Audio from the club meetings will go up on the WHJE website.

Radio teacher Brian Spilbeler said, “We’ve continued to increase the number of events we’re doing in the community.”
