LifeLines to meet Feb. 15, continue Black History Month projects

LifeLines is scheduled to meet on the morning of Feb. 15 to continue the ongoing projects of February’s Black History Month, which include making trivia questions for the video announcements, creating posters and banners with themes in black history and playing relevant videos after the video announcements.

LifeLines members will also begin planning two awareness weeks before prom and spring break. However, according to Alec Rader, LifeLines president and senior, Black History Month is currently the predominant focus of the club.

“The goal is just to have everyone keep (black history) and what it exactly means in mind,” Rader said. “That’s why we tried really hard to find movies and TV shows to show what the month truly means and what it’s for.”

LifeLines sponsor Rebekah Overbey said Black History Month has become one of LifeLines’ most noteworthy events. “It was an event that a LifeLines member suggested many years ago that we hadn’t done before,” she said.

At the last meeting, LifeLines members signed up for Black History Month work sessions in which they erected banners in the cafeterias as part of the month-long campaign.
