Performing arts convo scheduled for April 19 during SRT

On April 19, there will be an all-school convocation during SRT. According to Richard Saucedo, performing arts department chair, the school will recognize Jazz Band 1, Wind Symphony 1, Symphony orchestra, Accents, Ambassadors and the world color guard. In addition, they will also acknowledge the basketball team for winning the State championship.

“Mr. Williams had the idea for this and came to us asking if we would be interested,” Saucedo said, “Of course we wanted to be able to share the kids’ talents.”

According to Brighton Yau, Symphony orchestra member and junior, the orchestra is excited to show off their work to the school.

“We spend a lot of time in rehearsal practicing, and people don’t always realize the work that goes into it,” Yau said, “The convo will be a good way for everyone to see all the different groups perform.”

Saucedo said each group will play one piece but the convocation will still last almost the entire SRT. Depending on how the convo goes and how the school reacts, it may turn into an annual event.

“We’d love it to happen every year. We’re excited about it, but we’ll just have to wait and see the school’s response,” Saucedo said, “We’re hoping that it could be something to add to the calendar in the future.”
