The Africa Awareness Club will host a bake sale-style fundraiser this spring. It will entail cookies and message delivery of sorts, but as this was only discussed at their most recent meeting, feasibility is still possibly an issue.
The cookie delivery system will work similarly to National Honor Society’s carnation sale. Students will be able to donate a sum of money (the amount of which is also not yet determined) and the cookie would be delivered in SRT. The club will also personalize the cookies so it is of more significance to the recipient.
According to club sponsor Tracy Hadden, “They will be working on getting approvals… before anything is finalized.” So once more, viability of the ideas is still under inquiry, so any number of these plans can be subject to change.
Also brought to the table in the Africa Awareness Club’s most recent fundraiser was the possibility of a movie night, but the primary focus remains on fundraising. Megan Riley, club president and junior, made this clear.
“We’re just more focused on trying to raise money,” Riley said, “to actually help.”
