The Africa Awareness Club has settled the plans for its cookie sale fundraiser to be held after spring break. Students can place orders for $1 during lunches on April 15 to 19, and the cookies will be delivered on April 23. Pending administrative approval, which should be completed within one week, these plans are final.
The fundraiser will entail personalized cards to go along with the cookies purchased, functioning similarly to the National Honor Society (NHS) Valentines Day carnation sales.
Club sponsor Tracy Hadden discussed the probability of administrative approval. “I know that the state has a bunch of regulations on food, but if it’s homemade food you can kind of get around that.”
Megan Riley, club president and junior, personally hopes to raise at least 100 dollars through this fundraiser, more if possible, although no official goal has been set for the club.
Both Riley and Hadden express confidence in student participation and the feasibility of raising a large sum of money through the event to benefit the club.
“(NHS) sell tons of carnations… I’d say cookies isn’t that much harder to sell,” Riley said.
