Update (May 17, 2013): The National Federation of Press Women announced national winners today. The staff editorial writer went on to win 1st place nationally. Junior David Choe won 3rd place in cartooning. Junior Henry Jackson won an honorable mention in video feature stories.
The HiLite won eleven awards recently when the National Federation of Press Women announced the results of the Woman’s Press Club of Indiana high school journalism competition. (Despite its name, the organization has both male and female members.) First place winners in Indiana will move on to the national competition in Salt Lake City this summer.

Sophomore Pablo Paliza-Carre won 1st place in opinion writing and 2nd place in reviews.
Junior Claudia Huang won 1st place in feature writing and 2nd place in double-truck layout.
Sophomore Jason Klein won 1st place in sports writing.
Junior David Choe won 1st place in cartooning.
Freshman Kyle Crawford won 3rd place in sports photography.
Junior Crystal Chen won 2nd place in feature photography.
Junior Connie Chu won 2nd place in graphics.
Junior Henry Jackson won 1st place in video feature stories.
