According to Sameer Manchanda, Chess Club president and senior, the Chess Club T-shirts have been ordered and are currently on sale. Additionally, the next monthly blitz tournament will take place on Oct. 28.

Club sponsor Margaret Winans said students interested in purchasing a T-shirt can sign up in room F103. Manchanda said the prices will be finalized after all the order forms have been submitted, so payment is not required during sign-up. Additional information regarding T-shirt sales can be found on the club Facebook page.

According to Manchanda, last year, $5 of every club T-shirt purchase was donated to CHS Living Hope Club. He said the club is considering teaming up with Living Hope Club again this year.

“The money goes to a great cause and it’s a good opportunity for Chess Club to help out and expand,” Manchanda said.

Manchanda also said the club trip to Dairy Queen was a success. Many club members like senior Jimmy Zhang attended.

“We basically walked to Dairy Queen, ate everything on the menu and played chess for a few hours,” Zhang said. “It was awesome.”

Manchanda said the monthly blitz tournaments have moved from the first Monday of every month to the last. As a result, the October monthly blitz tournament will take place after school on Oct. 28 in room F103. Manchanda said that as usual, bus passes will be provided and students of all skill levels are welcome to play.

“The blitz tournaments are intense. You learn a lot since some of the people here are really good,” James Moskal, club member and freshman said. “It’s a lot of fun.”
