Fantasy Sports Club is scheduled to have their National Basketball Association (NBA) draft on Oct. 28 after school in Room H122.
“I am very excited to see the new faces and old faces that are going to come to participate in the draft. At Carmel, we choose to do a live draft because it promotes camaraderie among the members,” said Fantasy Sports Club sponsor Mike Meyers.
According to Zach Roop, Fantasy Sports Club president and junior, this is usually the most attended fantasy draft of the year because more people are interested in NBA, and it feels more familiar to them than the other drafts.
“I’m very excited for the NBA draft this year because I get to meet new people who also enjoy fantasy basketball too, and I have many players in mind that I would like to have on my team,” said member and freshman Drew Tocci.
Meyers says that there are two playing options for the members: either head to head or pool. Head to head is putting two people’s players up against one another and subtracting points throughout the season or during a selected period of time. Pool is completely based off of total points throughout the season and is against a group of people at a time. Roop said he likes head to head more because he gets to go directly against others and see how his team stands in comparison to others.
“Here at Fantasy Sports Club, our goal is to include all sports lovers who want to participate in any fantasy sport of their dreams. Our next upcoming draft will be at the end of February for the NCAA tournament,” said Meyers.
