Women’s soccer team to face Guerin Catholic in Sectional championship Oct. 8

The women’s soccer team will face Guerin Catholic in the IHSAA Sectional championship on Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. at Murray Stadium after defeating Zionsville 1-0 on Oct. 6.
Junior Molly Pittman scored the game-winning goal with 1:55 remaining in the game against Zionsville to send the team to the championship. Pittman said she is looking forward to playing Guerin Catholic. “We don’t play (Guerin Catholic) in the regular season, so it will be fun to play a new team,” Pittman said. “I’m excited to get a chance to prove our first in the state ranking.”
Assistant coach Julie Faas said the team’s challenging regular season has prepared them well for the tournament. “Fortunately for us, we have had an extremely tough schedule which has helped us prepare for the teams we will face in the tournament,” Faas said via email. “We have been able to try players in different positions to determine which are the best combinations going into the tournament.”
The winner of this game will compete in the IHSAA Regional on Oct. 12 at Zionsville.
